Meet the DFDesigns Management Team
Joseph J. Nicholson Founder, CEO
Joseph Nicholson is a "serial entrepreneur," as DF Designs, LLC™ represents his eighth start up company. While his background is in computer software for the high net worth and institutional money management community, Mr. Nicholson's previous companies have all specialized in addressing the needs of underserved segments of the financial services industry or developing unique approaches to solving recurring business problems.
DF Designs continues that tradition; men's sleepwear has been a largely neglected segment of the garment industry, as the basic concept of "pajamas" has never been updated. Mr. Nicholson was inspired to create Pookies™ and the Laissez-Wear™ lines after he began sewing drawstring sleep pants in playful prints for his partner, Peter. When more and more friends started requesting a pair, he found a void existed in the men's sleepwear market for updated, comfortable items that could go beyond the bedroom. DF Designs represents his second foray into fashion, as he has worked as an advisor to Australian women's wear designer Jayson Brunsdon who, with Mr. Nicholson's assistance, increased his US wholesale volume from minimal to over $2,000,000 in just two years.
In addition to his role as founder of DFD, Mr. Nicholson serves as a senior advisor to the William Rosenwald Family Organization and American Securities, L.P. Founded as a private investment partnership by William Rosenwald in 1947 to oversee his share of the Sears, Roebuck fortune, American Securities has a long history of creating new businesses by identifying and partnering with management and helping to develop and launch them.
The Rosenwald family has been a partner in each of Mr. Nicholson's ventures starting in 1983 and continues the tradition with DF Designs.

He was also the co-founder of a number of highly successful European technology businesses that developed customer interaction and prepaid cellular service solutions. Mr. Keattch has also had considerable corporate experience; he was COO at World Telecom, managing corporate recovery post private equity acquisition from PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He was Head of Operations at Alcatel (UK) responsible for restructuring and integration to create new distribution channels and support systems. He has held senior operational and advisory roles with Mannesman Ipulsys, RSL Telecom and Global Telesystems. Prior to his experience in the technology sector, he spent 10 years in the food and chemical industries in logistics and supply chain management.
A UK native, Mr. Keattch settled permanently in New York in 2006 and is an advisor to private investors and management teams in the US and UK. He also consults with private equity funds in NY and in his own capacity as an angel investor.
